This is the stunning young lady Laurel, who is a year old staff x husky who suffered a horrific broken leg and was signed over to the vets as the owners could not afford her treatment. Luckily the vets are very experienced and very on board with rescue, and tried their hardest to accommodate her urgent needs and prepare her to go onto a foster home.
Laurel has been with us some months, while her very serious break has mended, and she has been on crate rest for 3 months now. Laurel is now revisiting the world out and about and learning to curb her exuberance to be allowed out again although this is massively improved with a headcollar type set up, whilst she is still training and protecting her healing leg.
Laurel will do best as an only dog, with an owner who will be committed to getting her back to full fitness and who wants a playful, fun, bouncy pup who will eventually be a very active and busy girl who absorbs plenty of exercise.
Laurel is currently quite strong on the lead, and will want an owner committed to working on this and developing her handler focus with plenty of treats. She is crate trained and house trained and can be left for a few hours with chewy treats once she has settled. Laurel has lived in foster with other dogs and cats, but can be very over zealous with her play, and can guard things of high value (from other dogs, not people) so unless an owner is experienced in managing this, we would anticipate an easier settling and bonding time as an only dog. Laurel does experience travel sickness which would need extra work if someone wanted her to be a regular passenger.
Laurel is currently in foster in St Neots and is the most stunning girl who truly does deserve a restart of the clock and an opportunity to be the most fun best friend you cold meet
