IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT

Sadly, the state of rescue in the UK at the moment has reached an untenable position. The sheer volume of animals in horrific states, and with so many unnecessarily unneutered animals breeding has taken it’s toll on all of us in rescue.
Our animal welfare in this country is at a disgracefully low standard, which is incredibly difficult to watch on repeat.
There are so many animals let down by their owners, the people who are supposed to look after them to their very best ability, by members of the public, and indeed sometimes even some vets who don’t have welfare at heart

Even the most stoic people have a point at which they need a break, and a break has come

We are closing our doors from now until September 7th 2026.
This is not a flippant decision, and has not been taken lightly. It is a decision that rips at the heart of what has been achieved in 13 years of Luna.
We will take animals that we are committed to already, but we will not be adding more to our waiting list, and will not be taking any more hand ins or new animals until then.
We will concentrate on rehoming the animals we currently have in our care, and continue to rely on the public for help with those, and for sharing for their rehoming. As always, we will provide rescue back up for every animal we have rehomed previously.
Please do not contact us to ask us to take any more animals. We will not be in a position to, and it only feels worse to reiterate no.
You can continue to help us by:
* sharing our animals for rehoming
* ensuring that everyone you know prioritises neutering their cats, and ensuring that dogs do not breed.
* watching out for things we are continuing to do in the background, and supporting them.
